Megan Ramsey, 24, was charged for leaving the boy unattended in the bathtub with the water running, leading to his drowning, according to the affidavit.

Ramsey was charged on Monday, Oct. 21, according to court documents.

The drowning happened in the 1800 block of South Church Street on Wednesday, April 24, the affidavit states. The boy was 13 months old at the time.

Ramsey left him in the bathtub unsupervised with some toys while she was downstairs talking to her mother, the affidavit states. Police were called to the scene and the boy was taken to the hospital where he was intubated.

He was kept intubated for about 30 days with brain injuries before the decision was made to end life-saving measures, according to the affidavit, but ultimately, an autopsy was conducted on May 29, which revealed the toddler’s death was caused by drowning.

Ramsey was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Endangering the Welfare of Children.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, according to court documents. Her unsecured bail is set at $50,000.
